Why Participate
Clinical trials aren't just for people who've run out of options. They're for people who want expert care, early access to tomorrow's medicine, and a chance to leave healthcare better than they found it.
The Four Big Reasons
The right reason depends on you. For many MedX participants, it's all four.
Clinical trials give you access to medicines before they're widely available — often years before your local pharmacy carries them. For some conditions, the trial treatment is the best option on the market.
You're giving the trial something valuable: your time, your data, your commitment. MedX pays participants a fair amount per visit and covers transportation, parking, and reasonable expenses. Details are always in your consent form upfront.
During a trial, you see a board-certified physician and a dedicated coordinator who follow you closely. You get more lab tests, more check-ins, and more attention than most people receive from routine care — at no cost to you.
Every treatment in a pharmacy exists because people before you said yes. When someone who looks like you, speaks your language, and lives in your neighborhood joins a trial — future medicine works better for everyone who comes after.
Compensation, Explained
Clinical trial compensation isn't payment for participating — it's recognition of what participation costs you: time away from work, time away from family, and the energy of showing up to visits.
At MedX, every study has a clear, IRB-approved compensation structure written directly into the consent form. You know exactly what you'll receive before you sign anything.
Typical compensation includes:
Specific amounts vary by study. Every participant receives a detailed breakdown in their informed consent document before enrollment.
Illustrative only. Actual amounts depend on the specific trial.
Beyond Compensation
Regular lab work, vitals, imaging, and physician assessments — often far more than what you'd get through routine primary care.
If the trial involves a drug, you receive it free for the duration of the study. Related supplies and equipment are also covered.
A single point of contact throughout the trial. Someone who knows your case, answers your questions, and advocates for you.
English and Spanish across consent documents, visit instructions, and coordinator conversations. Language won't be a barrier.
If getting to the clinic is difficult, we can help — with mileage reimbursement, rideshare credits, or scheduled transport.
You can request summaries of your lab results and study findings — giving you information about your own body most people never see.
Every trial has its own specific criteria. We'll help you figure out which ones you may qualify for.
Who's Eligible?
People often assume clinical trials are only for patients who've "run out of options" — that you need to be very sick, very specific, or somehow special to qualify. That's a myth.
Many trials are looking for people newly diagnosed, people managing a chronic condition, people with a family history, or even healthy volunteers. The best way to find out if you're eligible is to ask.
At MedX, we'll never push you into a trial that isn't right for you. If you don't qualify for the study we're recruiting for today, we'll keep you on our panel and reach out when something that fits comes along.
How to Get Started
Fill out a short form or give us a call. A coordinator will reach out to answer your questions and talk through what's available.
We'll ask about your health, your medications, and your goals. If a current trial looks like a fit, we'll explain the details in full.
You review every detail of the study. Only when you're ready — and only if you want to — do you sign and join.
It costs nothing to explore. We'll answer your questions, walk you through what's available, and respect your decision either way.
